moreover be probably necessary that the work of audit should, as desired by the Chief Resident Engineer, be conducted at Kowloon where, it is understood, the accounts are kept, but, notwithstanding this, it does not appear to the Comptroller and Auditor General that, with the existing local Audit Staff, there should be any difficulty, at any rate for the present.in arranging for this additional work provided that no objection will be offered to the temporary employment of such extra clerical assistance as may be found necessary.
4. Subject therefore to the concurrence of the Secretary of State, the Comptroller and Auditor General proposes to inform the Local Auditor to the above effect, instructing him at the same time to furnish full information with regard to any extra temporary staff that he may consider necessary, and a further report as to the working of this arrangement at the end of 6 months.
